Daycare description / philosophy

Discover. Imagine. Learn. Create. The first Five years of a child's life are critical for development. Babies are born ready to learn, and their brains develop through use. So your child needs a stimulating environment with lots of different activities that give him plenty of ways to play and learn, and lots of chances to practise what he/she's learning. This is why my primary focus is to provide a safe environment with opportunities for learning while also stimulating, engaging and nurturing children.

I am an Ontario Certified Teacher and a mother of two children. I have been employed with the Durham/Niagara District School Boards for the past 8 years including 2 years of teaching education overseas in International schools. While teaching my specialization was Kindergarten. I am First Aid/CPR certified and have a current police check available. Our home is smoke/pet free, we have a fire safety plan in place with smoke/ carbon monoxide detectors on every floor and fire extinguishers. Our home is equipped with gates at all stairs, child locks on cabnietry and doors and outlets are covered with protective caps. Most cleaning products are non toxic and all are placed high in a safe area. Baby monitors are used during nap times for all children, there is an accessible first aid kit and emergency numbers are posted. We have security system in place and the doors are always kept locked. We have a newly finished basement that is bright and spacious filled with lots of developmental toys, books, learning centers, ball pit and train station set.

Children's daily routines will include hot and healthy lunchtime meals, nutritious snack times, outdoor physical activity, literacy and numeracy development, arts and crafts, rhythm and movement, pretend play and activities to help develop fine and gross motor skills. We enjoy celebrating holidays and have monthly themes that we focus on. I use personal attention and play based interaction to always provide the best care for your children. I lead a healthy lifestyle and teach my kids in a positive way to eat healthy and get plenty of daily activity. I use positive reinforcement and believe that children should always be treated with respect.
